TALITA CUMI GIRLS CLUB IN CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA

With Global Servant
Sarah McCurdy

$15,000

Goal: To create 50 mini libraries with Spanish books of various reading levels in 5 Latin American countries that will improve the literacy skills of girls in the Talita Cumi Girls Clubs.

Description: Sarah McCurdy, Special Assistant for Education in Iberoamerica and the Caribbean with International Ministries will be our contact.   Our project will be for the Talita Cumi Girls Clubs in Central and South American to have mini-libraries in their Clubs.  This will complete a 3-year project goal to provide the mini-libraries.  Global Servant Barbara Bolick has been writing the curriculum for these clubs for the last couple of years.  The libraries will offer additional breadth to the curriculum.  Each mini-library will contain about 60 books that are chosen for the appropriate ages and subjects with the goal to improve the literacy rates of the girls of the clubs.

If you would like to learn more about the mini libraries, please watch this video!

Due to the extreme circumstances of their work, we cannot post details about the persons or places where this work is taking place online.  However, we can share that the $15,000 raised for the Girls Home in Southeast Asia would go to help our global servants as they work alongside 15 local believers to rescue children from abuse and exploitation by providing them with safe places to live and education. The children include street children, child laborers, abandoned children, and orphans. Once out of harm’s way, these children receive medical care, counseling, trauma healing, attend school and church, and can pursue the lives God intended for them. This ministry includes four Homes and a Drop-in Center. This project will pay one year’s rent for two Homes for Girls, and help provide food, schooling, and other ongoing costs. A new house mother will be hired as well.

If you require more information about their work, please contact our Central Region Project Associate Sheryl Stemmons at fbcmclouthoffice@gmail.com.   You can also fill out the form below.
